A Kenyan woman whom we reported missing last week has been found. Margaret Njeri Mwaniki, 33, was reported missing after she arrived into the country in June from Australia but never went back. (Read: Kenyan woman visiting US from Australia reported missing by family)
She landed in San Diego and was supposed to be attending the Morris Cerullo Ministry Conference.
The San Diego Police found her sleeping and covered in a blanket at the 2100 block on Second Avenue . The police have been working with Jambonewspot.com to obtain Ms Mwaniki’s information to better assist them in locating her.
We were able to collect all the information after multiple calls to her family in Kenya, Canada and Australia to be able to file a missing person’s report. After a couple of back and forth calls with the Police Department, On Tuesday at about 10pm CST, they finally ascertained that this case can be treated as “missing person’ case and not someone who is trying to lie low and do not want to be found. They assigned us with a case number and designated our reporter as the US contact since none of her family members are in the country.
At about 12.39pm today, Detective Parga of the San Diego police department called us to inform us that they did actually locate her and she was also in their arrest records.
According to police records, they first arrested her for use of a controlled substance in August. She was released and she went back into the streets. She was then arrested again on October 25th. She is now awaiting a court date to face charges for use of narcotics. The officer said that with the passing of proposition 47 in California means she may have charges dropped to mere misdemeanor.
Her family however had stated that she takes anti-depressants and is usually unwell if she does not take them.
When we asked if there is a process to help in uniting the family, she said unfortunately said that since she is an adult, there is nothing much they can do as she has a choice to contact her family or not.
She said she has now joined the drug culture in the City of San Diego. We have notified the family of the same and they are yet to know how to proceed.
Jambonewspot.com would like to thank all of you who shared the information on various social media platforms in a bid to help the family.
