The Kenya rally fraternity mourns yet another loss this year.
Several months after legendary rally driver Joginder Singh breathed his last in his London home, veteran rally driver Ben Muchemi popularly known as Baba Shiru is no more. Baba Shiru died at the MP Shah Hospital earlier on Saturday after succumbing to stomach cancer.
He had been battling the illness since 2008. In 2006, Muchemi was bestowed with the Tanveer Alam Memorial Trophy for the most improved driver during the Kenya Motor Sports Federation annual awards.
Four years later he was named the Motor Personality of the year for defying cancer to drive a full season of the Kenya National Rallying Championship. For his gallant efforts, he was bestowed with the Moran of the Burning Spear. Baba Shiro also sat on the KMSF Board of Directors. May he Rest In Peace.
